Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017!

Hi everyone!
Today marks the last day of 2016. I already made a 'year in review' for my birthday
(check it out here), so what is there to talk about? Last year, instead of coming up with New Year's resolutions, I decided to write down a list of what I hoped for the new year. Some things came true, some didn't. What did come true? Under the Sea turned out to be an amazing event! My singing project in May went well! I made more videos and I discovered a new, amazing anime (Yuri!!! on Ice anyone?)!

This year, I want to make a new list. Let's hope some things will come true again:
♥ I hope my singing will get better, that I will pass my final exam and graduate.
♥ I hope Omnia Vanitas will be an amazing event and that everybody will have fun.
♥ I hope I can meet up with my friends more often.
♥ I hope I can go somewhere on vacation and enjoy it.
♥ I hope I can make more videos.
♥ I hope I will be able to write more blogposts.
♥ I hope I will wear more Lolita and enjoy it.
♥ I hope I will regain some confidence.
♥ I hope I will become healthier.
♥ I hope to get better.
♥ I hope that 2017 will be a better year than 2016, for everyone.
Because it was quite a shitty year.

Yes, that sounds good.
Of course, thank you as always for reading! All your comments mean more to me than you know! And now, without further ado:

HAPPY NEWYEAR!

23 Lolita Things

Today is a very special day for me, because it’s my birthday! I am turning 24 today, wow! I never really liked the number 23, so leaving that an moving on to 24 feels kind of nice. ^^ Although I miss my 21 and 22… Haha!
Anyway, I’m rambling. So today it’s my birthday! For my last two birthdays I wrote that I didn’t have any exciting plans, but this time I can say I do! Because at the moment this blog entry gets posted, I will be in Paris! ♥ I am staying at a friend’s house for the weekend and I hope it will be tons of fun! Expect blog posts and videos about it very soon… :3
For my 23rd and 22nd birthdays I made special posts to look back at the fun Lolita-related things I did those years. Since looking back on fun things is always quite nice, I wanted to do a post like that again this year. I haven’t done that many different Lolita-related things this year unfortunately, but I did come up with 23 things! So without further ado:

23 Lolita Things That Happened
When I Was 23

As previous years I made some special collages with pictures. Just click the links to go the blogposts where I talk about these events. ^^ The pictures are not in order of time because of lay out appearance, but I am sure you will be able to match the right picture to the right event~!

1. Just after my actual birthday, I attended the Summer Tales Boutique Very Merry Christmas Tea Party. It was a wonderful party, filled with amazing food and amazing people! I was so happy to see many of my friends again. Everyone looked so amazing! I had a fantastic day. But the cherry on top was the fact that I won the outfit contest! I really liked my outfit that day, but still cannot believe this actually happened!
2. At the end of 2015, I celebrated my birthday with a wonderful Bunny-themed Lolita birthday party together with my friend Iris. It was the third time I threw a Lolita party, but the first time I celebrated it together with a friend! It was a wonderful day and everyone looked so cute in their bunny-inspired outfits! I also really liked my own outfit that day. ^^ It was an amazing day filled with beautiful and super sweet girls and wonderful presents and memories. I had a lot of fun!
3. This year I made several haul and review videos on my YouTube channel, like my Japan Haul videos and my Luminous Sanctuary unboxing video. Talking into the camera for so long was quite scary at first, but I am getting better at it and it’s just so much fun! I am really happy there are people who appreciate my long talk videos, thank you!
4. New dresses are also Lolita highlights! At the beginning of the year I managed to get my hands on the Luminous Sanctuary special set in pink. It took a lot of effort since they were a Tokyo Angelic Pretty exclusive, but later on they were also sold in regular stores haha! But at last I got mine very early! x) I still haven’t worn it (boo me), but I hope to do so soon.
5. This year I visited Summer Tales Boutique several times and always bought at least one item from them. I never wrote about these visits, since they were quite casual. But I did post on my Instagram. I am really happy Katie is putting so much effort into her brand and her shop and I want to support her where I can! Also, I pretty much want a whole collection of Pom plushies now…
6. I never wrote about this anywhere, but one of my dreams came true: singing in a performance while wearing Lolita. In March we had our big project, called ‘Les Hotspots de Paris’. The project consisted of several parts, one of them being two pieces from Offenbach’s ‘La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein’. I suggested wearing one of my “doll dresses” for this part (there wasn’t really another way to describe it to my teacher) and it was approved! It was truly a dream come true. People literally gasped when I walked onto the stage in my outfit! XD
7. On Saturday May 7th the Under the Sea main event took place. Months and months of hard work finally came together in this huge event. What an amazing day it was… Under the Sea will always have a special place in my heart. All the stressful things that had happened before got washed away (pun intended) by the actual event. So many happy faces, so many amazing people, wonderful guests, an amazing location. I think I smiled all day! I was truly and fully happy that day.
8. On Sunday May 8th the Under the Sea Tea Party took place. This Tea Party was a lot more laid back for the organisers than the main event and it was a lot of fun! Everyone looked fantastic and I am so happy to have been a part of it.

9. As you can see, Under the Sea brought me a lot of precious memories! Fistly, meeting Yu Kimura was a dream come true! What a sweet person. Her cuteness knows no limits! I am so grateful I got to meet her.
10. Secondly, meeting Akira was a second dream come true! She is such an amazing person. She is kind, funny and at the same time has this brooding energy that makes everyone around her sort of fall for her charms. She is just indescribable…
11. I was very happy I got the chance to meet Mari Nakamura and Mariko Suzuki. Both lovely people. So graceful, so thankful. Another memory I am grateful for.
12. I never dared to dream it, but it happened! Kabedon with Akira was the perfect end to a perfect weekend! I am still blushing thinking back to it, gasping for air. Aaah, no words!
13. One final Under the Sea memory, I promise! Being a part of Street Fashion Europe meant so much to me. Being a part of this group where people I barely knew cared for me was a unique experience. I learned a lot, not just about organising, but also about myself. I made a lot of new friends and finally was asked to join the group as an official member. I cried that day, I was so happy! Thank you Street Fashion Europe, for changing me for
the better.
14. Oh right, non-Under the Sea things happened as well! In June I participated in a
J-Fashion show at a local convention. I represented the Sweet Lolita style. The show was a lot of fun and I bought some nice items at the dealer room. Overall a pretty good day!
15. In July a brand new (yes pun intend again) Angelic Pretty shop opened in Paris! As a Sweet Lolita and massive Angelic Pretty lover, I was and still am over the moon of course! An actual, physical store that receives the same collections as the shops in Japan, a European Lolita’s dream come true!

16. I bought a beautiful new dress at the new Angelic Pretty shop; the Shadow Dream Carnival special set. I am incredibly happy Angelic Pretty opened a new shop and I hope I will be able to support them where I can!
17. I was really happy I got to participate in this year’s Angelic Pretty Tea Party again! The Tea Party had its good and bad sides, but all in all I had fun! I was incredibly proud of my outfit with my beloved Crystal Dream Carnival Carnival, which made me super happy!
18. An incredible highlight of the Angelic Pretty Tea Party for me was winning second best dressed in the outfit contest! I felt and still feel so incredibly honoured and happy! To be elected second best dressed while for so long I felt unattractive and downright ugly was a major boost for me! And my picture appeared in Spoon magazine!
19. Last year I had pretty much just started my YouTube channel, now I have over 30 videos and over 1300 followers! I love making videos and some of the comments I get are so sweet and positive! They really motivate me to keep going.
20. I was sent some goods to review by the lovely Lolita indie brand Fluffy Tori. A tremendous honour and I absolutely love their stuff! I will be meeting the owner in a couple of months and I am very excited!
21. Street Fashion Europe’s next event, Omnia Vanitas, takes place in Barcelona on March 18 and 19. I am incredibly excited! There is much left to be announced and I am sure it will be another great event. This year I will be an organiser again of course, so I am living the true organiser experience: I will be travelling with my friend and co-organiser Josine and we’ll be staying in an apartment. I cannot wait! Although I am also quite nervous…
22. One of the announced guests for Omnia Vanitas is the amazing Kira Imai. I am incredibly excited to meet her and buy things from her! Another guest is Victorian Maiden, which is also so amazing! Keep an eye on the OV Facebook page, because more will be announced overtime.
23. Today, when this blog entry gets posted, I will be picking up the birthday present my parents offered me: the mint Milky Swan jumperskirt by Angelic Pretty! I have loved this dress for such a long time. Although I initially loved it more in dark blue, the mint colour really grew on me and I can’t believe it will be mine. So happy. ;___;

So there you have it: all the Lolita things that have made me happy when I was 23 years old. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to come up with 23 events, but in the end I managed! Let’s hope there will be more than 24 when I look back around this time next year… ♥

Paris ‘16, Day 5 – Sightseeing and Angelic Pretty Shop

Monday July 11th was our last day in Paris. We had breakfast at the McDonald’s one final time and then went back to the hotel to pack. We were done pretty early and after checking the whole room one more time we dragged our heavy suitcases downstairs. We were allowed to leave our luggage in the hotel’s basement so we were able to walk around freely around Paris for one more day.
I don’t really remember when we decided it, but at a certain point my mom and I decided to take a bus tour again! Our metro tickets had expired at midnight, so we had to buy one day tickets to travel around Paris. One of several tourist buses, Les Cars Rouges, had a stop right in front of our hotel. This tour bus had two different routes, as our cute hotel guy showed us on a map, which gave us the perfect opportunity to travel around Paris and do what we loved so much (my mom and I adore bus rides in Paris)!
We waited for the first bus that showed up and hopped on. Unfortunately, their cash machine was broken (?) so I had to pay by credit card. But well, we got our tickets! ^^
My mom and I love tourist bus rides!

As I said before, there were two bus routes: the blue Montmartre route, which passed by our hotel, and the red classic route, which passed almost all the big sights in Paris. We decided to take the bus to the transfer point (the station where the two routes intersected) and hop on a red line bus. Then, after we’d finished the red tour, we’d visit Angelic Pretty one final time and then return on the blue line to Gare du Nord to pick up our luggage and head home. A pretty solid plan. ^^
Checking out the two bus routes on the map.

The weather was very changeable that day, but luckily it started out very nice. The sun was shining and sitting on the roof of the bus in the open was quite nice. My mom and I enjoyed just looking up at the beautiful buildings. In Paris, looking up is often a very good idea, as the buildings have so many beautiful details that can easily be overlooked.
Riding the bus in the sunshine was so nice!

We got off at the transfer station and waited a while until the red route bus arrived. The poor staff guy must get the ‘How an you see which bus takes which route?’-question at least 500 times a day! (Answer: there is a piece of paper at the front of the bus saying which route it takes, haha). We got on a red bus and got settled. ^^
To be honest, there is not that much to say about the tour other than that it was very nice. ^^ We drove past the big sights, which was very nice. The weather changed a lot, at one point it almost started raining! Luckily it never did.
I liked driving around the Arc de Triomphe and down the Champs-Elysées the most. ♥
Some of the famous sights we passed: l’Opéra, the Eiffeltower,
the Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame.

I was really happy we had decided to take this tour. My mom and I just like seeing Paris from a bus (or boat) so much! It was a lot of fun. ^^
Mom and me. ♥

Finally we arrived back at the transfer point, so we got off the bus and started walking in the direction of Angelic Pretty. I wasn’t 100% sure where to go, so we just followed our instincts. We only missed the shop by one street, but this caused us to walk past a McDonald’s with McCafé and since we had gotten quite hungry we decided to have lunch there. ♥
I went to the toilet and when I came back we could carry our freshly ordered food to a cute little table outside. We had ordered hot chocolate, apple pie for my mom, cheese cake for me and some raspberry macarons. Everything was so good! ♥
Our delicious lunch!

We even had some cheeky birds flying over to our table in hopes of stealing some crumbs! My mom held up her hand and they took it right off! So brave and so cute! ♥
We went on our way again to Angelic Pretty. The store hadn’t changed much after our last visit (haha), but it was a lot more quiet. ^^
I still cannot believe we have an actual Angelic Pretty shop in Paris again!

We entered the shop and just walked around looking at pretty things. There was more room to look at dresses, so my mom and I took our time. Also, Mila was there so we chatted a bit.
Unfortunately, the necklace I was hoping to buy (a lace cross necklace) was sold out. Instead, my mom was quite enamoured with the Holy Sheep necklace, which is basically a derpy sheep wit wings wearing a cross. But because she thought it was so cute, I fell in love with it too! XD Sooo I ended up getting that one instead! My mom is actually a bad influence. x)
One of the sheep necklaces had a flaw (it missed the little cross), but I decided to get one with the cross. I paid, thanked the shop ladies and then we left the shop.
Naturally a purchase picture in front of the shop needed to be taken.

Aaah I am so happy we have a new Angelic Pretty shop now! I heard they recently painted the shop front pink! I can’t wait to see it…
A little peek into Angelic Pretty Paris…

My mom and I somehow found our way back to the tour bus transfer point and this time took a blue route bus. The route was alright, but not very spectacular. At one point I think we even almost had an accident! The bus was driving very slowly through a narrow street, when suddenly the left side (where I was sitting) drove of a small ledge and fell down at least a meter! I hurt my shoulder on the rail next to me and I am pretty sure that was not supposed to happen. It was quite scary for a moment, but we survived.
We arrived back at Gare du Nord, where my mom and I got off. We picked up our stuff and went to find something to eat for the train ride. We still had plenty of time, so we walked around for a bit and finally chose a sandwich + drink + pastry menu. Then we went to sit outside for a bit until it was time to head for the train.
Waiting in the sun.

After a while, we decided to head for our platform. And what a good decision that was! Remember how I complained there were absolutely no security measures at Amsterdam Central Station? Well, France clearly takes the terrorist threat a lot more serious! We had to stand in line and have our bags checked by an actual scanner! It took quite a long time and we had to run for our train like crazy despite being so on time! A staff lady almost threw us into the train! XD So yeah, good that they take precautions but at least mention it somewhere? Our tickets said: ‘Make sure you are at the platform 2 minutes max before the train leaves’, but no sign of any checks! Oh well, we made it in the end.
The train departed and we left Paris. I waved at the shrinking Eiffeltower ad Sacré Coeur in the distance and we ate our food.
Expensive but good train food.

The journey home felt long, but my dad and brother came to pick us up which was really nice. It had been an amazing adventure. ♥
Purchase of the day

And to end this post with, here is the video I made about our bus tour and visiting the Angelic Pretty shop! I hope you’ll enjoy it!

Thank you for reading! ~☆~

Paris ‘16, Day 4 – Japan Expo 2016

I am sooo slow with these blog posts, I am so sorry! >___<
Life is just getting in the way, but I’ll do my best!

On Sunday July 10th we woke up excitedly again, since this was the day we had planned to go to the Japan Expo! Well, to be honest, it was our second choice to go to the Japan Expo. Initially, my mom and I had wanted to visit the convention on Friday, but only on that day did the musical group Takarabune I really wanted to see not perform. They did perform on all the other days and since Sunday was our only possibility out of three options, my mom was okay with going on Sunday. Speaking of my mom: going to the Japan Expo was more her idea than mine, believe it or not! Before we went to Paris, she literally said to me: ‘I am going to the Japan Expo, with or without you!’ Well okay. XD
We had breakfast at McDonald’s again (where I discovered that the ‘Banania’ drink was in fact chocolate milk and not a banana drink, hallelujah!) and then collected our things. Then we went on our way to find the right platform.
After asking someone and following some cosplayers, we soon found the right train platform. Unfortunately, the train we needed to board just departed, so we decided to sit down on the stairs and wait for the next one. The station was quite crowded and only got more busy, but luckily there was a really cool guy doing amazing tricks with a glass ball that distracted us. Finally, our train arrived and I almost jumped in so that I could secure a seat for my mom. I was glad I had done so, since the train was already quite full. But at least my mom had a seat. ^^ Later some kids moved, so I could sit too.
Coincidentally and luckily so, this train drove directly to Parc des Expositions, where the Japan Expo took place. That was so great! *o*
When we arrived, the station flooded with people, both dressed up and not.
Arrival at station Parc des Expositions

We followed the stream of people and passed the big sign saying ‘welcome’ I had seen the year before too. We climbed some stairs and while I was waiting for my mom, I suddenly spotted two beautiful Lolitas among the crowd. One of them turned out to be Lunie! Somehow we seem to meet at unexpected times and places. x)
Together with Lunie we walked around the building and into the first hall. The year before I had already learned that getting to the actual Expo, it takes a few halls of walking before you’re there. We walked and walked along fences and gates, had our bags checked and finally arrived in the ticket hall. If you already had tickets you had to go left, but since we didn’t (*sigh*) we went right.
Directions to the right ticket lines.

Lunie didn’t have tickets either, so we continued together. I got a bit worried, since in the distance I spotted a huge line of people. I hoped we didn’t have to stand in that line… We continued our way along the gates for what seemed miles. I got a bit worried since my mom had to be careful with her energy. Luckily, I soon realised the line I had spotted wasn’t ours. It was meant for people who didn’t have a ticket and wanted to pay by card, while we wanted to pay cash. Finally, we arrived at the end of all the gates and we could immediately walk to the nearest booth and buy our tickets, no line whatsoever! So if you ever go to Japan Expo without buying a ticket upfront: pay by cash!
My mom shamelessly using Lunie’s dress as a nice background for our tickets. 8D

Finally, we could continue our journey to the actual Expo. We had to walk for a bit more, but at least now we had our tickets! Soon we had them checked and we entered the Japan Expo~!
Big welcome posters everywhere

Lunie had to go find her friends, so we said goodbye. But not before I took a picture with her! She looked amazing and I felt happy we matched a bit, haha!
With lovely Lunie, who always looks amazing! ♥

At first I felt very disorientated. The year before we entered the hall from a different side and I had no idea where we currently were. Luckily people were handing out maps and after I took some time I finally found out where we were. I suggested to my mom we’d go and find the ‘Young Creators’ area first and just look around for a bit while we did so, to which she said yes. My mom was a bit overwhelmed I think!
We passed several amazing booths, mainly focused on anime and games. I had completely missed out on this hall during the previous Japan Expo edition somehow, so walking around there was quite nice. We passed a Square Enix booth and the new Attack on Titan game looked amazing! Suddenly, without expecting it, we walked into the Sailor Moon booth! I had seen some posts floating around on Facebook about the amazing products this booth was supposed to be selling, so I was eager to return later.
Finally, after shuffling through the crowds, we arrived in the other hall (the one I actually recognized). We passed some lovely stalls and exhibitions, one of them having a beautiful poster accompanying it. I couldn’t resist taking a picture with it. ♥
Pretending I have a bird resting on my hand as well.

My mom and I walked on and entered the Young Creators area. One of the first stalls we encountered was Summer Tales Boutique! I was happy to talk to Katie and her boyfriend for a bit and fantasizing about buying one of the big Pomeranian plushies (they’re just
too cute)! ♥
‘Le boyfriendo’ managing the stall. Check out the Pom plushies! ;_;

My mom and I walked on and explored the Young Creators area. There were a lot of amazing stalls and we took our time to look at all the goods. The most varying goods were being sold, form traditional-themed jewelry to kawaii and colourful accessories. Naturally, the latter has my preference. ^^
Some of the things we spotted at different stalls.

I also walked into some familiar faces! I was happy to see Marissa again (who, as always, looks amazing in every style) and to finally meet Mew Fairydoll! So many times we were hoping to meet, but we always ended up missing each other. Now we finally met! I was so happy! ♥
With Marissa and Mew Fairydoll. ♥

We also walked into a stall that had the biggest collection of plushies. They even had some Gudetamas! Too cute! I still regret not buying Gudetama-related goods in Japan last year…
We arrived back at Katie’s stall and while I chatted for a bit, my mom told me to stay there while she went to check something out.
Gudetamas~!

Suddenly, my mom returned with a little gift for me! She had bought me the cutest plush Gudetama key chain. ‘Because you really need something Gudetama!’ she said. She is so sweet (and funny)! XD
We walked on and decided to have a seat somewhere and eat some candy. We were a bit tired, so we needed some rest. We had noticed by the way that despite the heat outside inside it was pretty ok! Apparently the air conditioning was working really well that year. XD Great!
After some people watching, my mom and I started moving again, passing the area dedicated to the anime Fairy Tail. Soon we found the NHK Kawaii International booth. It was quite hard to overlook, since it was bright and colourful. There was a tv showing happy girls jumping to music and people were crafting at a table. I knew the famous 6% Dokidoki designer, Sebastian Masuda, would come and meet people, but that would be at 2:30 pm, which would take while, so we decided to come back later. However, my mom and I did have our picture taken with the pancake hat and cookie crown they had brought to the same booth last year. However, I promised not to post the picture, sorry! XD
We decided to visit the Sanrio area: a small square surrounded by fences with areas dedicated to different Sanrio characters. At the entrance I received a paper Gudetama hat, it was so cute! (Actually I ended up losing it, but I went back and got a new one later).
Do you like my special Gudetama hat?

We entered the area and looked around for a bit. There was a little temple dedicated to Gudetama and there were trees filled with Hello Kitty bows, where you could leave a special message.
Taking pictures of the bow trees.

We also had our picture taken while wearing special (and huge) Hello Kitty bows, but I promised my mom not to post those. XD We left the area and continued our way. I spotted a picture of the world famous painting ‘The Birth of Venus’ in Gudetama style while we left. It was amazing. XD
We walked around for a bit, past several stalls, when I suddenly spotted a colourful sign saying ‘6% Dokidoki’! We decided to check it out and it turned out that there were several 6% Dokidoki items for sale! And to my great happiness they had the bright pink heart ring for sale I had been hoping to find in Japan during our last trip, but thy were out of stock for that particular colour. And here they had multiple pieces! I ended up with the ring I wanted, a matching glitter bow and another glittery bow and aqua. I was very happy! ♥
6% Dokidoki items for sale! ☆

My mom and I sat down in a corner for a while and did some people watching. Many, many people passed us. Some in cosplay, most not.
After a while, when we just felt better, some amazing Sith cosplayers (including Kylo Ren aaah) passed us by and I ended up asking them for a picture! That was fun. ^^
We decided to check out the more ‘traditional Japanese’ stalls. Unfortunately, they weren’t as nice as last year’s, but it was fun anyway. Suddenly, I noticed two of the band members of Takarabune appear and walking up to their stand! I was so happy to see them and talk to them for a bit. We also took a picture together! So happy. ;___;
With Takarabune’s Toma and Wataru. ♥

I told Toma and Wataru I would be coming to their show and they were very happy to hear. It got me even more excited to see them perform!
By then it was time to head back to the Kawaii International booth and meet with Sebastian Masuda. When we arrived, he was indeed there! It’s always so amazing and a little strange to see someone you’ve only seen on the internet suddenly in real life!
Sebastian Masuda and a translator interviewing a girl at the Kawaii.i booth.

There was a crew of people filming people and holding interviews. Masuda-san had brought a small time capsule of Domo-kun with him and you could craft something at the big table at the booth to put in it later. I didn’t feel up for it, but some people I knew were busy crafting pretty things. ^^
There was a line of people to take a picture with Sebastian Masuda, so I joined. When it was my turn, we took a picture together and I told him I am a big fan of his brand. ^^ Masuda-san seemed a little shy, but he was very nice.
With Sebastian Masuda and Domo-kun~! ☆

My friend Vief was also in line to have her picture taken, so I waited for a bit and then we had a chance to chat. It was lovely to see her again and she looked lovely in her jellyfish outfit. ♥
Doesn’t Vief look a-ma-zing!? ♥

Then my mom and I went on to the Sailor Moon booth! Yaaay, finally! I bet you were waiting for this! 8D And if you weren’t… Well ok. XD
My mom and I returned to the Sailor Moon booth to look at all the pretty goods being sold there. Facebook had prepared me for awesomeness, but it hadn’t prepared me for this much awesomeness! Warning: picture flood ahead, because I loved this booth!
The Sailor Moon booth consisted of two parts. The left part was the boutique part, consisting of a line, several check outs and glass cabinets displaying the goods for sale, all carefully watched by a giant Sailor Moon at the bright pink back wall.
The Sailor Moon Boutique.

The right part was called ‘The Sailor Moon Beauty Bar’, where you could get your make up done by staff members using the products sold in the shop. They gave all the clients the classic Sailor Moon look. I even spotted a guy getting his make up done!
The Sailor Moon Beauty Bar.

In the middle of the two booths you could have your picture taken with an actual Sailor Moon! A girl dressed as the famous character walked around and took pictures with whomever wanted, it was amazing!
Both parts of the booth were beautifully illuminated by a spinning disco ball and it was clearly a popular place, since there were always people in line.
I was super excited and ready to start shopping! I admit that I have never seen one episode of Sailor Moon (I did read some of the manga, in French – lol what), but I am a big fan of the merchandise. Everything is so beautiful and I am a sucker for pretty compact mirrors and boxes that contain hidden treasures, so this was right up my alley! I believe I had already received a catalogue of the booth at the start of the day, so my mom and I put it on the glass counter so we could take a look at the things we liked a little more quietly.
Some of the amazing goods for sale at the Sailor Moon Boutique.

I was immediately sure I wanted a Shining Moon Powder (yes I had to look that up because I had no idea what it’s called), because it was basically the most beautiful make up powder compact mirror I had ever seen! *o* They also offered miniature tablet cases in the shapes of famous items from the series and since they were so cute, I offered my mom to pick one so I could buy it for her. ♥ She chose the Crystal Star (yep, looked that up too), so I went to stand in line.
A few of the beautiful make up powders. ♥

When it was my turn, I asked the kind shop lady whether I could see the two different Shining Moon Powders. Apparently one version was newer (and slightly more expensive), but I liked the old version better, so I went with that one. I also asked for two Crystal Star tablet cases because I wanted one as well) and for a Cosmic Heart (also looked that one up) tablet case. That last one seemed to be sold out unfortunately! It was of course the last day of the Japan Expo so it was not surprising, but still a bit sad. But luckily, the shop lady found one for me after all! Lucky me! ♥
She also showed me an apparently exclusive and new extra tablet case for sale (don’t ask me which item it was, I can’t remember), but although it looked nice I thanked her kindly. I went to pay and received some adorable free stickers and a small ribbon that served as a bracelet. Then, I happily left the booth with my awesome pink striped Sailor Moon
shopping bag!
My mom had sat down in the meantime, so I decided to join her for a while. At the some point, a guy with a giant Tubbs from Neko Atsume on his back walked by. It was… quite interesting. x)
When we both felt a little more energized, we got up and I went to take a picture with Sailor Moon (yay)!
I’m in a picture with Sailor Moon, aaah! *o*

By now it was time to head to the stage to see Takarabune perform soon. We had also gotten a bit hungry by now. On the way to the stage, we passed the booth of an idol/girl group? They looked so lovely and were so kind I asked for a picture with them, but I have no idea who they are! *shame* Does anyone know?
I wonder who these cute girls were..?

We passed a stage where a group of singers were hyperactively performing and finally found the stage where Takarabune would perform in some time. There was another music group performing with very serene music and dancers, but sadly for them and us the music of the other group a little further down was far too loud to enjoy it.
My mom and I hadn’t eaten in a long time, so while my mom guarded our seats I went to get some onigiri and some drinks. They were quite expensive, but so good! Maybe we were just very hungry, but well, the taste seemed amazing! ^^
Our delicious onigiri!

Finally, the performance was going to start! I was a little sad we hadn’t managed to get front row seats, but our seats were pretty nice as well. ^^
The show started and I honestly enjoyed it from start to finish. I fell in love with this group the moment I saw them perform during the previous Japan Expo, when my friend and I accidentally walked into them. Later I looked them up online and was hooked, so I felt so grateful I got to see an entire performance done by them!
Takarabune performing!

But what does Takarabune actually do? It’s hard to describe: they make percussion music, they dance, they act, they’re funny, they’re amazing! Please consider watching the video at the end of this post, as it shows a part of their performance. Maybe it will make you understand why I love them, maybe it won’t. But just know: I think they’re amazing!
Takarabune’s Takashi performing a funny skit.

At the end of the performance, everyone who wanted could come up the stage and I decided to just do it! It was fun to be with the group members dancing on stage! No pictures though, I’ll spare you. ;)
After the show it was possible to meet all the members at their own booth. First, I decided to buy a pin that said ‘Takarabune’ and then posed with the members. They’re so amazing, I am so happy I got to meet them!
With Wataru, Shinnosuke, Toma, Megumi and Takashi. ♥

By now it was really time to leave, since the Japan Expo was about to close. My mom and I slowly made our way to the exit, together with a lot of other people. It had been an eventful and amazing day, but now we had to brave the journey home.
Bye, bye Japan Expo!

My previous journey home from the Japan Epxo, with my friend, had been an absolute hell (read this blogpost if you want to know more) and I had wanted to avoid it by leaving earlier, but since Takarabune performed quite late we had no choice. But luckily, we already had train tickets thanks to our Navigos, so standing in line was not necessary.
My mom and I arrived at the right platform, I checked again with a staff member (who was being quite sassy, hmpf) and soon the train arrived. I almost jumped into the vehicle to secure a seat for my mom, but… It wasn’t necessary at all? The train wasn’t all that crowded! So my mom and I both ended up with a seat, how amazing is that?
Back at Gare du Nord, we crossed a lot of Portugese soccer supporters and beside being very kind and enthusiastic, a lot of them were very handsome too haha!
Back at our hotel we rested for a bit and then went on our way again, to meet with Marina at restaurant Yummy! Yes again, haha! Marina and I had barely talked and my mom was fine with some catching up between us, which was incredibly nice of her. Thanks mom! ;___; ♥ No pictures though, we just wanted to have dinner peacefully.
The rest of the night was spent watching the soccer finale (France lost sadly, but the Portugese had been so cool and nice we didn’t mind that much, sorry France) and then sleep! It had been an amazing day.
Purchases of the day

And to end this post with, here is the video I made about our adventures at the Japan Expo! I hope you’ll like it!

Paris ‘16, Day 3 – Angelic Pretty Tea Party 2016

Hi everyone! I am so sorry this blogpost took so freaking long! I had to wait for some pictures and I was getting scared they would never come, but they did~! So now, finally the long awaited (is it though?) Angelic Pretty Tea Party 2016 blogpost!

On Saturday the 9th of July, the third day of our trip, the Angelic Pretty Tea Party took place! As every year, this Tea Party too was very promising. It would take place in the incredibly luxurious hotel Westin-Vendôme and would feature a big fashion show and three guest models from Japan: Chikage, Rinrin Doll and (yes really) Risa Nakamura. I was especially excited to see RinRin again and meet the other models too. It was going to be an exciting day.
We woke up, got dressed and went to have breakfast at… McDonald’s! We wanted to try and keep breakfast cheap and since the McDonald’s down the street offered breakfast as well, we decided to try it. ^^
The breakfast was actually really nice! There were many choices and you were also allowed to choose multiple things, which was really nice! In this way, you got a drink, something sweet and something savoury. We ended up liking McDonald’s breakfast a lot and went to eat there during the other days of our trip too. ^^
The McDonald’s breakfast turned out to be really nice!

We went back to our hotel, where it was time for me to prepare my outfit and get dressed! *dundundun* Drumroll!
Before I continue, I would like to talk a bit about the process of how my coord came to life. You can skip ahead if you want. ;)
From the day I had bought my Crystal Dream Carnival dress at Maiden Clothing in Osaka, I knew I wanted to wear this dress to the next Angelic Pretty Tea Party. I kept it in the closet for months, waiting for that single perfect opportunity! About a month after our Japan trip, my mom and I visited a huge vintage fair where I walked into the most amazing dramatic, blue velvet cape. It looked like it came straight out of a theatre production and I instantly fell in love! The cape had a bit of a strange blue colour, just like my Crystal Dream Carnival, and I was hoping with all my heart the two would match. Back home, I compared the two and they seemed to be an almost match made in heaven. Happy me!
Months went by and the closer the Tea Party came, the worse I started to feel. I was feeling anxious and incredibly insecure about myself. The idea of wearing Lolita while feeling like this was so scary. There was even a moment I almost yelled: ‘I am not going anymore! I can’t do it!’
Because I was feeling this way, it took me a long time to finish my coord and try everything on. This was also the reason I postponed asking my dad to help me shape my headdress until the evening before we left and me adding the crystals the evening before the Tea Party. But, in the end and for a reason I can’t explain, I finally started to get excited again and I felt incredibly proud of my outfit. It had become the outfit I had wished it to be for all those months.
A detailshot my mom took of items lying on the bed.

Now, where was I? Oh right, preparing for the Tea Party. I took a shower, spread my outfit out on the bed and started on my make up and hair. I was surprised by how fast I was done with my make up despite the fake eyelashes and the tiny stars under my eyes. I was expecting it to take ages, but I was done fairly quickly. My hair on the other hand took a lot more work. I had come up with this really nice hair style, but it took quite a lot of skill which I don’t possess. Somehow I got everything to stay without hurting my head and my mom helped me get my head piece and crown onto it all. It was quite warm outside, so I was infinitely grateful we had air conditioning! Every time I felt like I was getting too hot, all I had to do was stand in the air flow and I felt better. *_*
Finally, I had my whole outfit on and I was ready to go! And everything within reasonable time, whoa!
My mom gathered her things and we went on our way to Jardin des Tuileries. We had planned to take some pictures there first (yay) and then continue to the hotel where the Tea Party would take place, since it was right next to the park. We entered the park and found a spot in the shade, since the rest of the park was very sunny and bright. After shooing away some gypsies that tried to harass us, we had a little photoshoot of my outfit. I really like the pictures my mom took so sorry for spamming you *o* This was my Tea Party outfit! I hope you like it. ♥

It was time to head to the hotel. I was a little scared my shoes would start hurting me, since I hadn’t worn them before at all, but I ended up feeling fine (plus I had brought emergency shoes just in case). Soon we left Jardin des Tuileries again and stepped into the hot sunshine. While we waited for the traffic light to turn green, I suddenly spotted a Lolita dressed in black. It was Marie! Together with her and my mom I walked to the entrance of the hotel. I made sure my mom recognized everything so we would be able to meet again after the Tea Party and we said goodbye. The Tea Party wasn’t very long this time so we would see each other quite soon again. Then Marie and I entered the hotel.
The entrance to the Westin-Vendôme.

I was glad Marie knew the way, because we had to walk through some hallways. I am sure I would have found it by myself too, since there were signs saying ‘Angelic Pretty – Impérial’ along the way.
I love it when fancy hotels have signs with my favourite brand on them in it. ♥

After turning some corners, I spotted a group of Lolitas in the distance. I joined the group and quickly spotted familiar faces. I put my stuff on the ground and put my cape that I had been carrying on my arm up until then on. I want to get as much use as I could out of it, haha! XD
Waiting in the fancy hall for the Tea Party to start.

I was quickly approached by my friends Eveline and Astrid. I was very happy to see them and they looked very beautiful. I was even happier to see Rosie again! I had to wait for years until I could meet her at Under the Sea and now we met each other again so soon again! She looked amazing and her outfit contained lots of handmade elements.
I walked around for a bit and greeted people I knew. I spotted Marlessa, who looked lovely (as ALWAYS) and I talked for a bit with Hanabi and Lily. I hadn’t seen them in a long time, so reconnecting with them was lovely. ♥
Suddenly everyone gathered their things and walked into the next hallway, so I did too. I walked after Hanabi and Lily and filmed where I could. After a short while, we reached a table where Mila checked the invitations and gave everyone their number. I received
number 63. Hopefully a lucky number?

Then, we entered the Salon Impérial.
Now, before I continue I actually want to give a little disclaimer. For me, it’s very hard to complain or point out bad things about events. I know how hard people work to organize the best Tea Parties and events they can. I have known this far before I started organizing things myself. I see the hard work of people and therefor it’s easier for me to be positive, accept things easier or gloss over things. But at the same time, I want to be honest here, to you, on my blog. And this Tea Party definitely had some downsides. There were a lot of plus sides as well and I will definitely point them out, as I always do, but I have to stay honest too. So just so you know. ^^
I looked around the Salon Impérial, which was an absolutely beautiful room. The walls were decorated and had mirrors, chandeliers hung from the gorgeous ceiling and round tables were scattered around the room. I looked around the room and spotted my dear Pippa and Ada waving at me and I ended up sitting at their table with, among others, Marie and Sandra as well. ♥

I checked out the table with raffle prizes, which was quite impressive! The prizes went from pouches and necklaces to bags, blouses and big dress sets. There were also three best dressed prizes.
All the amazing raffle prizes.

There was also a cute doll displayed wearing an elaborate Angelic Pretty dress. I have no idea why it was there and it wasn’t announced, but later the doll appeared on the AP site too, so I guess it was there on display and later for sale.
The cute doll on display.

I talked with people where I could and tried to socialize a bit with people I didn’t know yet. Some people had come from really far away! The fashion show was running a bit late according to the programme, so I took my time to chat. Lots of people told me they loved my outfit, sometimes even especially coming up to me to tell me so. This made me so incredibly happy! ;_; I received such big compliments. Some even called me ‘queen’, which is amazing too hear when you usually feel like a princess. Queen is a whole new level!
Chatting with people during the free time.

Suddenly, it was announced we already had to vote for our favourite outfit! This was quite a shock, because it felt like the Tea Party had barely started! Usually you have more time, until at least halfway the Tea Party, but now we already needed to make our choice. I absolutely suck at choosing my favourite outfit and everyone had really done their best to look amazing, so in the end I went with one of my friends who looked very different from the rest of the guests (in my opinion). ^^
Some of the beautiful guests. ♥

Then it was finally time for the fashion show! Unfortunately, right before the show began it was announced pictures and videos were not allowed during the show, but later at designated times. I have no idea whether this was because they wanted people to really watch the show with their own eyes or that they were afraid we would somehow disturb the show in some way. Either way, I was a little sad about it, because I was hoping to make a nice video about it like last year. It felt especially weird when it turned out none of the dresses shown were ‘new’, or ‘yet unknown’ like Classic Fairytales had been during the previous Tea Party.
However, the show was absolutely amazing. There were a lot of models and a lot of outfits. When the first model walked out, the Risa Nakamura, an admiring whispering floated through the room. She wore one of my big favourites of this season: Milky Swan. Her showing the dress definitely did not diminish my love for this print. Then Chikage followed. Chikage is one of those models I saw in magazines and online when I was an aspiring Lolita, so seeing her in real life was quite amazing. She is so small too! Then, when RinRin walked out, I almost started crying. I was so happy to see her in real life again. ♥

I don’t remember the exact order the models walked in. Next time I should have a little notepad for situations like this. But then again, I was too preoccupied gasping and watching all the beautiful outfits etc.

After the special guests, a stream of girls followed wearing the most beautiful outfits. A few models, including the special guests, even wore two outfits! They must have changed backstage so fast!

It was great to see how different styles were shown There was a clear division between sweet, elegant and darker mature. I loved how all the models also carried a prop or a matching bag.

Everyone looked gorgeous and many of my friends modelled. I was incredibly happy for all of them, but I think I felt the proudest when Marina came walking out. She looked so happy and beautiful, wearing Cirque de l’Étoile and the sceptre RinRin had once worn in a fashion show in the USA combined with Crystal Dream Carnival. Although I did smile internally about the fact they had paired Marina with a red dress again, even though she has 50% bright pink hair. XD

The show was great, besides the sometimes wonky transitions in the music. The grand finale started with ‘I Want Candy’ and all the girls came out and posed on the stage. When they were all positioned, everyone was allowed to take pictures and videos for 30 seconds (I’m not kidding). So yeah, we all rushed to the stage like raptors. XD Unfortunately, the stage was right in front of the windows, so taking pictures was quite challenging. Thankfully, other people took pictures too which turned out better than mine, so here you go:
All the models together on stage.

However since I tried really hard and I ended up liking this picture after all, here’s another picture from another perspective. ;)
Doesn’t everyone look lovely? ♥

The models left the stage, leaving Risa, Rinrin, Chikage and designers Maki and Asuka behind, who all did a little speech. I loved hearing Risa’s and Chikage’s voices for the first time. Risa’s was soft and melodious, while Chikage sounded a bit nasal, not too high-pitched and super cute! Risa said we all looked cute and inspiring, Chikage hoped we would have a good time together, Rinrin was happy to see many familiar faces, Asuka was happy the new shop had opened and Maki hoped everyone had enjoyed the new collection.
Then it was time for food! Taka-san, the shop manager and translator, announced the hotel chef had made a very special cake, inspired by Marie Antoinette. At that moment, the ‘I Want Candy’ music started again and two men carried a giant cake with fireworks into the room. The cake was placed on the stage and the models and designers posed with it.

After the fireworks had gone down, the cake was carried away again. To be honest, we were not quite sure whether this was a real cake after all. XD It looked both fake and real at the same time and during the days after the party big discussions arose about whether or not this was the real cake or just for decoration, since it didn’t completely resemble the real pieces of cake we got. I thought it was hilarious. XD
We sat down at our seats and slowly, beautiful pieces were brought in. I chatted for a bit while the cake was getting served and we were joined by the girls who had modelled, now in their own outfits. One of them, a German Lolita named Jennifer, came up to me and gave me chocolate! I had helped her acquiring a ticket for the Tea Party and she gave me Merci chocolate as a thank you, so sweet! ;0; ♥
Besides a piece of cake, every guest also had a long plate with six small pastries on it. I waited for my cake to arrive, after which I started on the pastries.
A rather ‘artsy’ shot of the pastries we got.

The pastries were absolutely delicious! My favourites were the macaron and the dome-shaped yellow blob in the front. Very good!
Then, I started on my cake. Dear God, it was so good! The red fondant on top was smooth and sweet and the strawberries inside tasted so fresh and rich. This cake was so good, aaah! ;___; ♥
The absolutely amazing cake. I still dream of it… ♥

At this point we were hoping the special guests would come out to interact with people, as Maki and Asuka were doing. But they didn’t come out of the backstage area. Instead, it was time for the raffle.
Initially I had been quite happy about the length of the event. The Tea Party would be quite short and after the almost traumatic experience of the incredibly hot Tea Party last year I felt quite relieved. However, it became clear that with such a small amount of time, everything started to feel rather rushed. Not only the voting for the best outfits, but also the raffle.
Time for the raffle!

At the beginning there was some confusion about the numbers. Even though everyone was already wearing a number for the outfit contest, the number on your invitation was the number for the raffle. However, this was a really long number: mine for example was 2016041. For the raffle, my number would be 41, the last two numbers of the longer number. Of course this is not a disaster, but it caused some confusion among people (trying to find their invitation in their bags etc) and it caused the raffle to slow down since numbers had to be repeated. To make up for that, the drawn numbers were announced at a very fast pace. Especially when there were multiple of one prize, like the pouches and necklaces, the numbers were announced like a wave and had to be repeated a couple of times.
Mila handing out prizes to lucky winners. ♥

However, I always enjoy the raffle. Even though it was a little fast this time and I didn’t win anything, I am always happy for people who do win. Some of my friends, like Caly and Pippa, ended up winning bog prizes. That’s just so awesome!
Caly won a big dress set and Sandra is assessing her prize.

At the end of the raffle, cute postcards were given to those who won nothing by the cute Angelic Pretty shop girl we had met during one of the previous Tea Parties (she’s so cute). Since I won nothing, I received a post card too of course. It showed artwork of a Lolita wearing Strawberry Whip by Imai Kira. Supercute! ♥
After the raffle, the special guests finally came out again! But… not to interact with the guests. Instead, Taka-san announced there would be a little game. At Japanese Lolita Tea Parties, it is very common to play a game of rock-paper-scissors (‘jan-ken-pon’ in Japanese) between the guest models and the guests. And today, we would be playing too! First, every table needed to choose one winner. How this person was chosen every table could decide for themselves. Some just picked someone who didn’t mind going up to the stage, others really played games until one person remained. My table played against each other and Marie ended up going to the stage. Chikage, RinRin and Risa all played against the winners.

Here too was a bit of confusion at first. People who lost didn’t know they had to sit down and some things had to be redone, but all in all it was a nice game. ^^
The game was over and then it was time for the outfit contest! Where in previous years there were usually two winners and a winner picked by Maki, now it was three winners by vote.
The third prize went to a very sweet girl named Sarah who looked absolutely amazing in her military-inspired Wonder Queen outfit. Very well deserved! ♥
Then it was time for the second prize, which went to number 63. Number 63..? THAT’S MY NUMBER! Yes really, I ended up winning second best dressed at this year’s Tea Party. Can you believe it!? ;___; When multiple people came up to me and told me they loved my outfit of course I was happy and maybe I did gain a little hope. But I never thought I would be chosen! I still cannot believe it! After months of frustration and insecurity I was basically told: you are still ok. You can still be beautiful. That was the most beautiful gift I could get.
I walked up to the stage and besides granting me the second best place, the Lolita Gods also granted me a ‘tearless’ cry. I cried from happiness, but somehow no tears came to ruin my make up (which I was very grateful for)! I went to stand next to Chikage and Risa, everyone applauded for me and RinRin presented me with my prize and hugged me. That made me even happier. ;___; ♥
A very emotional moment… ♥

I left the stage and walked back to my own table, still dazed. Friends here and there shouted congratulations at me, it was so amazing. ♥ I quickly checked what I had received (I hadn’t even looked at it yet): an adorable illustration by Maki and a bunny bag. It was amazing!
I was so overwhelmed I almost forgot to see who won first place! It was Laura, who looked absolutely amazing in her Holy Theatre, sheep-inspired outfit. Also so well deserved!
The three best dressers.☆ I still cannot believe I was one of them!

The Tea Party was slowly coming to an end, so it was time for the group picture! It's always such an adventure to get everyone in the frame, but we managed!

While the ‘thank you for coming’-speech, Maki was handing out bags with presents. The bags contained a post card, button and special Tea Party eco bag. Very nice! ♥
I decided to try and take some pictures with other people since I still hadn’t done that! I am glad I managed to get pictures with some people.
With Laura, Katarina, Emilie, Honda-san, Eveline and Rosie. ♥

It was time for people to start leaving, but most of us stayed around. I went up to Mila and asked her if the guests would be coming out. I was not the only one asking luckily. But apparently, the guests weren’t coming out anymore! ;___; There had been no personal interaction whatsoever or chances to take pictures at least. I (and most of the guests with me) were incredibly sad about that. I was so looking forward to meet Chikage, Risa and mostly RinRin! I asked Mila if she could give my candy to RinRin at least. I hope she received it.
At least I got the chance to chat a bit with Maki and Asuka, give them my gifts and take pictures with them. I am so grateful I’ve had the chance to meet them multiple times. Hopefully more opportunities will come!
With Asuka and Maki. ♥

Suddenly, I remembered that some of the French girls wanted to make a ‘gangster video’ (it’s a joke that once occurred at a French event). I reminded Lily and we all gathered in the hallway to bust through the door like the cool kids we are (ahem). Suddenly while we were almost ready, the special guests appeared on their way to the front door. Apparently they were in a hurry and needed to catch a taxi, but while they passed us by RinRin reached out to me and gave me a kiss on the cheek while passing me. I thought that was just so kind of her. I don’t think she’ll ever read this, but: thank you RinRin! ♥
We shot the video and I collected my things. I followed the other girls to the exit and reunited with my mom. She was sitting on the ground and apparently lots of girls had recognized her and said hi! My mom is more well-known than me! 8D
I said goodbye to everyone and hugged where I could. I also had the chance to chat a little bit more with Mila. She had been so busy during the Tea Party! She didn’t know I had won second place, haha! She had worked so hard.
By now I was super hot and tired, so my mom and I returned to the hotel. A group of people returned to the Angelic Pretty shop and it turns out Chikage, Risa and RinRin had gone there too to take some pictures. It was only brief apparently, but still. But I was too hot and tired anyway! XD
Back at the hotel I was grateful I could get out of my clothes. I had been quite hot with my cape (well duh), but in the end it was worth it~!
After some discussing, my mom and I finally decided to go have dinner at Café Albert across from our previous hotel. We were longing for a Salade Loisir, which tasted as amazing as always!
Salade Loisir for dinner!

Back at the hotel we just rested. I was super tired, it had been a long day! I had some reassessing to do about the Tea Party. There had been highlights and some lows. Like I said, I don’t like to complain about events, but I want to stay honest too. I hope you, the readers, appreciate it in some way. Every guest paid a lot of money to attend, so pointing out downsides is not a bad thing to do I guess.

In summary, the downsides of this year’s Tea Party were for me:
- Short length of the Tea Party.
- No pictures or video allowed of the fashion show.
- - No interaction with the special guests!

In summary, the plus sides:
+ The fashion show.
+ The food.
+ + Winning second best dressed!

So there we have it: this year’s Angelic Pretty Tea Party post. I hope you enjoyed it. ^^ Sorry, it took so long to post it. -_-
Gifts of the day

And to end this post with, here is the video I made about my adventures at the Tea Party! If you only watch the video it probably gives a more positive view of the Tea Party? Well, I hope you’ll like it anyway!

Also, my friend Roxane (one of the models) also made a great video about the Tea Party, which I absolutely love! Please check out her video too~!

Thank you for reading! ~☆~
